The 2003 Doisy-Vedrines has 130 g/L of residual sugar and a medium straw-gold color. It comes barreling out of the glass with notes of apricot preserves, creamy caramel, praline, and ginger ale, plus hints of broom and sassafras. The palate is decadently sweet and rich, with plenty of freshness and savory baking spice and nut notes on the long finish.

Bright yellow-gold. Spicy, ripe, complex aromas of peach, apricot, orange and nutmeg. Juicy, shapely and sweet, with lovely inner-mouth lift and aromatic character. High-toned and expressive but also quite fresh and precise for the year. Finishes impressively long and firm. A very strong performance for this chateau, and a good value.

Bordeaux

Red Bordeaux, globally renowned, is crafted in France’s Bordeaux region from grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. These full-bodied wines feature dark fruit flavours, earthy and spicy notes, and often benefit from ageing. Top producers include Château Margaux, Château Latour, and Château Lafite Rothschild. White Bordeaux, made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, offers styles from crisp to rich, with citrus and tropical notes. Sweet Bordeaux wines, like Sauternes, are famed for their rich sweetness and flavours of apricot and honey, with Château d’Yquem as a leading producer.
